I was saddened by the news to close Heritage Manor in Winthrop.
It was my first position as director of social services, and it was a wonderful, small nursing facility. It will be a big loss for the community.
North Country Associates is a great company, and its facilities have always been some of the best.
Sad for the remaining staff and the 40 residents who need to be moved.
So many homes have closed; I can’t help wondering where people will go when they need rehab or long-term care. Maine needs to do something to help nursing facilities before we are a state without critical care.
