DEAR SUN SPOTS: God bless the two men in a plow truck who came to my aid Sunday, March 24. The city plow had left a 3-foot — or more — bank and I had been working at it for more than a half-hour, only making a small dent.

At the rate I was going, it would have taken me all day just to clear this ridge. I do not have the best snowblower, and the snow was very hard because of the ice from the rain.

The plow truck driver not only did a great job clearing the hard snowbank, but he also would not take the money I had offered. He just waved and drove off. I hope he sees this note because he was a godsend. It is nice to know there are still nice people. What he did was greatly appreciated. In a few months, I will be 90 years old.—No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: I hope your good Samaritan sees this letter, and I want to add that I am mightily impressed you were out there at all. That Sunday storm needed a hammer and chisel to be removed.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I wanted to add my favorite bread pudding recipe: Preheat oven 350 degrees. Toast four slices of bread, spread butter on each slice, spread on (1/3 cup total) brown sugar and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon.

Make two sandwiches and cut each sandwich into four rectangles. Place rectangles in a buttered casserole dish. Beat together three eggs, half a cup of granulated sugar, a dash of vanilla, a dash of salt and 2 1/2 cups (cooled) scalded milk. Pour over bread.

Add raisins, if desired.

Place casserole dish in a larger pan holding an inch of very hot water.  Bake 65 to 70 minutes, until knife inserted in middle comes out clean.—Sandra, no town

ANSWER: What a clever recipe. I like the idea of making the sandwiches. We will be eating a lot of bread pudding at my house because I must try all of these great recipes. There are more to come. Stay tuned.
