Students and teachers work with Portland nonprofit to write about the history of Lewiston and create a giant mural in the hallway at the Lewiston school.
Members of the Lewiston High School soccer team are surrounded Monday morning by fifth graders at Connors Elementary School in Lewiston. Students have worked on the mural, background, for the past few months with a nonprofit organization called Side x Side from Portland, with a grant from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation. The students produced historical reports about the city while working on creating the mural with the theme What I Love About My Community. Many of the students wrote about the importance of soccer and incorporated it into the mural. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
