Emily Rotondo is Discover Lisbon’s downtown director.

LISBON — Beginning Tuesday, April 9, Positive Change Lisbon is operating under its new name, Discover Lisbon, and with municipal support, has hired Emily Rotondo of Lisbon as downtown director.

The town, through the Economic and Community Development office, has since 2009 participated in the National Main Street Program, with the support and guidance of the Maine Downtown Center at Maine Development Foundation. In 2012, Positive Change Lisbon was formed as a local nonprofit.

Rotondo brings years of community development and nonprofit experience, according to a Lisbon news release. “This organization has an impressive track record of doing good in the Lisbon community on sheer volunteer power,” she said. “I am eager to work with volunteers to build a lively and vibrant downtown and build community in this special place.”

“The last 10 years have been a period of strong growth and community development here in Lisbon” Ross Cunningham, Lisbon’s economic and community development director, said. “With new businesses continuing to come to Lisbon and the increase in community events, I am looking forward to seeing this nonprofit provide the support our community needs to continue to grow and develop.”
