Bettyann Sheats, who has served in Maine’s House of Representatives, is running for state Senate District 20 (Auburn, Durham, Poland and New Gloucester).

She would be a responsible and responsive voice for us and has the talent and motivation to get things done. She used to be a Blackhawk helicopter pilot and platoon leader. Bravery, leadership and technical knowledge — I like that.

She has another important credential: she’s a mom and raised her children to adulthood here. No wonder she has worked to increase school funding by the state. When the state mandates programs it should fund them instead of us paying more property taxes — and it’s great for our kids’ education.

I drove Bettyann around during her last campaign. She never skipped a house; always spoke with anyone who was home. What she starts, she finishes.
