I respectfully disagree with Rep. Tammy Schmersal-Burgess’ position on gun control (“Maine’s 72-hour waiting period violates the Constitution,” May 19).
I think a short three-day wait for the purchase of a handgun or rifle is worth it if it saves only one human being’s life.
The three-day wait is worth it if it saves the lives of our schoolchildren and their teachers.
Last, the three-day wait for the purchase of a handgun or rifle is worth if it it saves lives, and prevents pain in the loss of loved ones that will never end.
We must do everything sensible to protect and save human life.
