More than 150 friends of Maine Behavioral Healthcare gathered July 17 at the Portland Country Club for its annual Signs of Hope fundraiser co-hosted by Sheri Boulos of Falmouth.
Proceeds to date of $180,000 will be used to provide mental health services to the community. A highlight of the evening included an award presented to members of the MaineHealth Center for Trauma, Resilience and Innovation who were honored for their unwavering dedication in response to last October’s tragic shooting in Lewiston.
The four-member team led by Rebecca Hoffmann, director of MaineHealth Center for Trauma, Resilience and Innovation, catalogued an impressive list of support activities conducted in response to the shooting. The group created safe spaces for victims, families, and hospital staff to share their feelings.
They provided immediate psychological support, set up crisis counseling services, and organized webinars to aid health care providers and grieving families. Their dedication and compassion have made a lasting impact on the Lewiston community, showing an exemplary crisis response.
Signs of Hope was made possible through the event host committee and guardian sponsors.
