HARTFORD — State officials are investigating the cause of fire that destroyed a local home on Sunday.

The Maine Office of State Fire Marshal was at the scene of 112 Old State Route 140 on Monday, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss.

The fire was called in at about 1 p.m. on Sunday, prompting area fire departments to respond, including Buckfield, Sumner, Turner, Canton, Paris, West Paris, Hebron, Greenwood and Peru to assist in fighting the blaze.

Buckfield Fire Chief Adam Dupile told the Sun Journal that water availability was an issue at the site.

One man was transported to the hospital for heat and exhaustion, but otherwise no injuries were reported, he said.

Route 219 near Route 140 was closed to traffic for a period of time on Sunday.
