LEWISTON — Police arrested a local transient early Monday during a traffic stop and bail search on Blake Street, according to a police Facebook post.

Devin Charest, 33, a passenger, was arrested about 2 a.m. after police recognized him.

Police conducted a bail search on Charest and the vehicle he was in, which revealed “a substantial quantity of crack cocaine, methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl.” A sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun was also found in the vehicle.

Lewiston Police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent said the street value of the drugs is several thousands of dollars.

Charest was charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs, being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating conditions of release.

He is being held at Androscoggin County Jail with no bail allowed.

Charest is a felon with an extensive criminal history, according to the statement.
