Kaci Rugg, center, hands a can of carrots Thursday to Karen Salter as they assemble Thanksgiving baskets at Angstrom Fiber in Auburn. Employees participated in the community project by donating meal items, supplemented by $25 gift cards so families could add turkey, ham or other perishables. The baskets are being donated to the Margaret Murphy Centers for Children, which will distribute them to families of students facing food insecurity. Rugg introduced the program to Angstrom, bringing the idea from a previous job. “When I was growing up, my family received baskets like these,” Rugg said. “Some years, Thanksgiving would come from a church group and Christmas might come from another organization. To be able to turn around and give that back, so families don’t have to worry about this one thing, is amazing.” Working on assembling the baskets are Cassandra Cossar, left, Jenn Edwards and Karey Robbins (not shown).
