Sean Achorn rebounded a missed shot and converted a putback in midair just before the final buzzer, lifting Messalonskee to a 57-56 win over Lewiston in a boys basketball game Saturday in Lewiston.
Messalonskee (7-2) led 25-10 after one quarter, but Lewiston (5-5) fought back and eventually took a 56-55 lead on a layup by Abdirahman Dakane with about nine seconds remaining. The Blue Devils trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter.
Achorn paced Messalonskee’s balanced offense with 15 points. Ryan Parent made four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points, and Ty Bernier had three 3-pointers and 13 points.
Dakane scored 21 points and Lonnie Thomas added 12 for Lewiston.
EDWARD LITTLE 61, BONNY EAGLE 48: Akol Maiwen scored 23 points, including seven 3-pointers, to help the Red Eddies (6-3) beat the Scots (4-6) in Auburn.
Diing Maiwen added 20 points and Owen Galway scored 10.
Max Bouchard tossed in 12 points, CJ Cooper had 11 and Brody Taylor 10 for Bonny Eagle.
BUCKFIELD 75, FOREST HILLS 54: Krosby Harvey scored 32 points as the Bucks (4-5) won in Jackman.
Gaven Parsons added 14 points.
Blaine Nadeau led the Tigers (5-5) with 18 points and eight rebounds.
MT. BLUE 67, OXFORD HILLS 47: Tyler Abell scored 19 points as the Cougars (6-3) cruised to a win over the Vikings (5-5) in Farmington.
Nolan Leso added 17 points and Carter Norton had 14 for Mt. Blue.
Brayden Murch tallied 15 points and Cameron Pulkkinen 11 for Oxford Hills.
NOBLE 57, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 54: Jamier Rose scored 24 points, and the Knights (9-0) recovered from an early double-digit deficit to slip past the Patriots (2-8) in Gray.
John Patenaude scored 16 of his 23 points in the first quarter, when the Patriots went ahead 27-16. Patenaude hit four of his five 3-pointers in the opening eight minutes.
After being held to one field goal in the first quarter, Rose picked it up in the second, scoring 13 points as Noble pulled within 34-32.
Bryce Guitard contributed 10 points for the Knights.
Colby Mitchell (three 3s) had 19 points for the Patriots.
POLAND 45, LEAVITT 30: Damon Martin had 13 points, five assists and three steals to lift the Knights (5-2) past the Hornets (4-4) in Poland.
Nick Jamo added 10 points, four rebounds and five assists, while Anthony Warren had five points, five rebounds and four assists.
Riley Meisner and Colin Schlobohm each had eight points for Leavitt.
WINTHROP 58, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 25: Braden Branagan and Graham Huri paced a balanced offense with 12 points apiece as the Ramblers (4-4) defeated the Panthers (0-8) in Yarmouth.
Cole Bard added 10 points.
Mansuk Loboka led NYA with eight points.
ST. DOMINIC 57, DIRIGO 47: Jonathan Tangilamesu and Isaac Yombe each scored 12 points and Taylor Varney was one point shy of a triple-double as the Saints (7-1) beat the Cougars (4-4) at Dixfield.
Varney finished with nine points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Tangilamesu grabbed 10 rebounds and Donel Tangilamesu scored 10 points.
Nathaniel Wainwright paced Dirigo with 19 points.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 67, LAKE REGION 54: Cai Dougher tallied 22 points for the Phoenix (8-1) in a win over the Lakers at Jay.
Dylan Jewett contributed 18 points.
Aidan Roberts finished with 12 points for Lake Region (2-5).
MT. ABRAM 84, CARRABEC 55: Brennan Mitchell scored 30 points for the Roadrunners (8-0) in a win over the Cobras (5-2) in Strong.
Bryce Wilcox contributed 15 points.
Jackson Newton tallied 19 points for Carrabec.
PINE TREE ACADEMY 67, TELSTAR 65: Lucky Kabeya scored 15 points, and Collin Verrill and Silas Yeaton each added 12 as the Breakers edged the Rebels in Freeport.

BUCKFIELD 42, FOREST HILLS 36: Chloee Bennett scored 15 points as the Bucks (7-1) won in Jackman.
Kianna Finnegan chipped in with eight points.
Kelsey Rancourt led Forest Hills (7-3) with 16 points and five steals.
DIRIGO 47, ST. DOMINIC 43: Abigail Lucyznski scored 15 points as the Cougars (6-3) beat the Saints (4-4) in Auburn.
Diana Cayer and Aleiah Wood added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
St. Dom’s got 16 points from Juju Farrington and 12 from Chloe Croteau.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 64, NOBLE 33: Izzy Morelli scored 21 points, Abbey Steele sank five 3-pointers for 15 points, and the Patriots (8-2) cruised past the Knights (0-7) in North Berwick.
Gray-New Gloucester raced to a 23-5 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 40-13 by halftime.
Grace Roberts put in 14 points and Lauren Merchant had 10 for Noble.
LEAVITT 40, POLAND 37: Gabby Smith scored 16 points, including two late free throws late that helped the Hornets (6-1) secure a win over the Knights (6-1) in Turner.
Smith also had 10 rebounds. Jordyn Boulay chipped in 11 points.
Phoebe Paradis had 12 points for Poland.
MESSALONSKEE 44, LEWISTON 37: Chloe Michaud scored 12 points and the Eagles (1-8) earned their first win, beating the Blue Devils (1-8) in Oakland.
Bailey Tardif-Mockler had 16 points and Ella Beaudoin 13 for Lewiston.
MORSE 64, LISBON 12: Reese Darling scored 16 points as the Shipbuilders (3-4) beat the Greyhounds (0-7) in Lisbon.
Rebekah Plummer added nine points.
Hannah Perron scored six points for Lisbon.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 53, LAKE REGION 40: Maddie Grimaldi scored 13 of her 25 points in the fourth quarter to help the Phoenix (8-1) pull away from the Lakers (4-3) in Naples.
Grimaldi keyed a 17-7 closing run. Avery Bessey finished with 11 points for the Phoenix.
Bella Smith had 14 points and Helena Sheldrick added 10 for the Lakers.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 46, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 39: Mariam DeLisle scored 17 points, and the Eagles (5-3) beat the Falcons (4-4) in Newcastle.
Ysabelle Bhe added 10 points for Lincoln.
Madison Dow scored 10 for Mountain Valley.
WINTHROP 46, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 31: The Ramblers (5-3) held the Panthers (4-5) to one point in the fourth quarter to pull away for a win in Winthrop.
Ella Rice scored 13 points for Winthrop, while Kylee Mansir added 11 and Madeline Wagner had 10.
Ella Giguere scored 19 points for NYA, which cut a 12-point halftime deficit to four points entering the final quarter.
BOYS HOCKEY
MARSHWOOD 2, ST. DOMINIC 1: Connor Lentz made 27 saves for Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble (3-2) in a win over the Saints (4-3) in Dover, New Hampshire.
Emmett Hammond had a goal and an assist, Brady Asciola also scored for the Knighthawks.
Spencer Morgan got the lone goal for St. Dom’s. Nolan Cavers stopped 17 shots.
LEWISTON 4, THORNTON ACADEMY 3: Aizyk Laliberte scored two goals for the Blue Devils (3-3) in a clash of the last two Class A champions, at Biddeford Ice Arena.
Austin Landry and Nate Metivier were Lewiston’s other goal scorers.
Trent Lesieur, Brady Pecora and Corbin Poussard scored for Thornton (6-2).
WINDHAM 5, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Sam Foley scored twice and had two assists for Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle in a win over the Red Eddies at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Philip Traina also netted two goals and set up another. Sawyer Perkins made 13 saves for the Windham co-op
Jack Caron tallied Edward Little’s goal. EL goalie Caden Westhoven turned aside 21 shots.
CHEVERUS/YARMOUTH 6, LEAVITT 1: Cheverus/Yarmouth (7-0) scored four times in the third period to pull away from Leavitt/GNG/Poland/Oak Hill (3-3) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Quinn McCoy and Owen Cheever each scored twice and Cheever also had an assist. Colby Carnes finished with a goal and four assists, and Matt Paradis also found the back of the net.
Cheverus goalie Ethan Tucker stopped 19 shots.
Isaac Ormberg gave the host Kings a 1-0 lead in the first period.
GIRLS HOCKEY
PORTLAND 10, GREELY/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Marina Bassett scored five goals, Caileigh Hopkins had two, and Portland/Cape Elizabeth/Deering/South Portland/Waynflete (8-3) handled the Rangers (0-11) at Troubh Ice Arena.
Addy Blackburn, Libby Hooper and Annabelle Price also scored for the Beacons.
Zoe Trepaney got both goals for the Rangers.
WINSLOW 5, ST. DOMINIC 2: Katie Berard scored four times for Winslow/Gardiner/Cony/Messalonskee/Lawrence/Erskine/Maranacook (5-6) in the win over the Saints (1-7) at the Thomas College Ice Vault in Hallowell.
Leah Michaud added a goal and an assist, while Sophia Sullivan had three assists.
Gabby Allen and Avianna D’Auteuil scored for the Saints.
