Right out of the Project 2025 playbook, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget on Jan. 27 “froze” (illegally impounded) billions of dollars of congressionally appropriated funding for more than 2,000 programs and services: everything from Head Start to Meals on Wheels and essential veterans’ services.

Chaos and confusion immediately ensued. The OMB was forced to rescind the directive after vehement objections from both sides of the aisle, and almost instantaneous temporary injunctive relief was ordered by a federal judge for its blatant unconstitutionality.

Memorandum-25-13 informed agencies their funding would be frozen until they could prove they were “supporting activities consistent with the President’s policies and requirements” … and not “equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies.”

Implicit in the memo were those allocations antithetical to the interests of the fossil fuel industry. Seriously, did America mean to elect this chaos/cronyism?
