WOODSTOCK — At Breau’s Too you may choose to purchase an everyday American pizza or instead take a walk on the wild side and bring home Veggie Curry or another spicy Indian meal.

The Indian to-go foods at the Woodstock convenience store and gas station have been a hit, selling like hotcakes since they were introduced about a month ago.

Brianna Douglass, of Albany, was heading to Hannaford’s but stopped at Breau’s Too for  Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken.

When she went by the week before, the Indian food cooler was empty, but today she happily found dinner.

Douglass lived in Ecuador for eight years. It was there that she discovered Indian food and frequented an Indian restaurant with her husband. They hadn’t eaten Indian cuisine since moving back to this area a few years ago.

“I grew up in Bethel and there was not a lot of Indian food,” said Douglass. “It’s great to have these options for food. We have Le Mu in Bethel now, too. It’s diversifying the food scene.

Breau’s Too owner, Ashish Kumar Patel, hired an Indian chef to make the food that is for sale in Woodstock and at their locations in Rumford and Norway, said his cousin Roy Patel, of Norway, who works at the Woodstock store.

Also on the menu in Woodstock are Chicken Korma, Shrimp Curry, Fish Curry, various Samosas, Garlic Naan and Rose and Mango Lassi’s (sweet yogurt drinks).

Said Douglass, who teaches math at Telstar Middle School, “I love me some pizza and wings and bar food but it’s nice to have a little something different every now and then.”
