STOW — Residents will be asked to establish a road committee and whether to restrict water extraction at this week’s annual town meeting.
The meeting will be held Saturday at the Town Hall beginning at 1 p.m.
Article No. 7 on the 43-article warrant asks residents to consider establishing a road committee to assist town officials in overseeing repairs, plowing and budgeting for the town’s roads. The committee will consist of five members serving three-year terms. If approved, committee members will be voted on during the town meeting.
Article 16 asks voters to enact a water extraction ordinance.
Town leasers are proposing an $894,000 budget, of which $512,000 will be raised through taxation. The Select Board and Budget Committee support each expenditure listed in the warrant.
Selectman Raymond Ryan’s seat is up for election for a three-year term. It is unclear if Ryan plans to run for reelection.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
