To the Editor:
Oxford is fortunate to have 5 candidates willing to serve our wonderful town as Selectmen. There are presently two seats open with the retirement of State Representative Caldwell Jackson and the end of Sharon Jackson’s current term.
I am writing to my fellow neighbors in support of Sharon Jackson retaining her seat. I support Sharon Jackson because she has proven she has the expertise and experience to continue to help lead Oxford in a positive direction for all of its citizens. As Sharon’s neighbor, I have personally witnessed her up late at night before Selectmen’s meetings, reading and preparing for the issues at hand.
She is always ready to answer residents’ questions and is actively involved with the town manager, seeking solutions to problems. She remains consistently informed and connected. This is not a twice-a-month meeting job for Sharon. In my opinion, four good candidates are vying for one open seat. I humbly ask Oxford residents to please vote for Sharon Jackson on June 10.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
