An Auburn man was found dead Saturday morning following a vehicle theft in Auburn on Friday, according to an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Robert Brown Jr., 36, was found Saturday morning in an overturned 2011 Toyota Highlander SUV just off East Hebron Road in Turner.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from an Auburn residence the night prior, had come to rest among trees sometime during the previous night, the release said.
Investigators determined Brown was driving east in the Toyota when he failed to negotiate a sharp turn near Dow Farm Road. The SUV left the road, crashed into several trees and overturned.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash, according to the release.
Turner Fire and Rescue assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
