The Maine Central Institute girls and Lincoln Academy boys claimed the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B team titles on Friday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
Gabrielle Finelli finished first in the girls 55-meter hurdles (8.73 seconds) and the triple jump (36 feet, 1 inch), while taking second in the 200 to help the Huskies score 109 points. Morse was second with 99.5 points, followed by Leavitt (76.5), Lincoln Academy (62.5) and Erskine (47).
Lincoln Academy’s boys 800 relay team of Bear Grandy, Caleb McArdle, Braden Bessey and Forest Storer earned the Eagles’ only victory Friday, but they had enough depth to score 96 points to win the team title. Lawrence was second with 80.5, followed by Morse (66), Winslow (57) and Nokomis (51).
Erskine Academy’s Sovie Rau and Lincoln Academy’s Karen Higgins both won three events in the girls meet. Rau won the 55 (7.52), 200 (26.63) and 400 (1:01.39). Higgins, meanwhile, won the 800 (2:24.55), 1-mile (5:27.62) and the 2-mile (11:57.65).
Winslow’s Hassan Hobbi and Waterville’s Charley Flees both earned a pair of wins in the boys meet. Hobbi won the 55 (6.79) and the 55 hurdles, while finishing third in the 400 (56.15). Flees won the 1-mile (4:48.60) and 2-mile (10:30.06).
