Gilead’s traditional Saturday night annual town meeting will be held this year on March 28 at 7 p.m. at the town hall on Depot Street.
Residents will vote on 37 warrant articles. They will choose a new select board member when Alfred Leighton steps down from his seat at the head table. Two school board positions are open and will also be voted on.
Last year, the town raised $16,000 for a townwide property reassessment. Article 17 will ask voters for another $17,000 to pay assessors the required total of $33,000. Town officials have been working to keep expenses down for their 195 residents.
Town Clerk Patsy Cox said the reassessment is necessary in part because residents are receiving very little of their homestead exemption reimbursements because the town has not met the state’s deadline for reassessing.
“We were overdue,” she said.
