Avon voters filled three elected positions during their annual town meeting March 14. They also passed all 62 warrant articles for the coming year.
For a three-year term on the select board, Jerry Gilchrist won with 30 votes.
With 31 votes, Jane Thorndike will fill the remainder of a term on the select board until 2028.
Adam Bilodeau was elected to the School Administrative District 58 board of directors to finish a term ending in 2028.
Among many other articles, residents approved the following items for the budget:
- Article 18: Roadwork, $40,000 coming from excise and $60,000 from FEMA.
- Article 20: Plowing and sanding, $50,000 in excise taxes and raising $25,000.
- Article 21: Interim road commissioner, $8,000.
- Article 22: Road paving, $300,000 from excise taxes and raising $25,000.
- Article 35: Transfer station, $30,000 instead of the recommended $25,000 to cover operating costs this coming year.
During the meeting, resident Paul Gardiner volunteered to build and donate benches and picnic tables for the town ballfield.
The 2027 annual town meeting is tentatively set for March 20.
