Alfred K. Goff

DIXFIELD – Alfred K. Goff, 81, died Monday April 20, 2026, at his residence in Dixfield.

Born in Rumford on May 3, 1944, Alfred was a son of James and Alice (Coffin) Goff.

Alfred graduated from Mexico High School Class of 1962. Alfred had a variety of employers prior to retiring. He worked for Diamond Match, Northeast and Bancroft Construction, Hancock Lumber and was a transportation provider for Hope Association to name a few.

Alfred was a veteran of the Army National Guard proudly serving for 24 years.

Alfred married Sherley Ferland on April 16, 1963. They made their home in the Rumford area before deciding to move to Dixfield.

Al enjoyed classic cars and attending car shows where he proudly displayed his restored bright yellow ’51 Ford Coupe. Al won several trophies and ribbons that he displayed on the backseat of the car until there were too many and not enough room on the backseat.

Alfred is survived by his wife; daughter, Carol and husband Claude Averill of Dixfield and son, John and Jessica Goff of Minot. Alfred’s joy was his grandchildren Kirby and Jonathan Berry of Dixfield and Nicholas and Samantha Goff of Canton. Great-grandchildren include Lyle, Sealee, Anita and Haley of Canton. Alfred leaves behind a favored nephew, Bill Goff of Roxbury.

Family wishes to express their upmost gratitude and thanks to Andwell Hospice especially Nurses Kinder and Tammy and Wendy (LSW). Home providers Louann, Bailey, Judy, and Kori. Special thanks to Tina Roy, Erica Daley, Katrina Pulk and Patsy Curneil.

All things were possible due to the care and commitment from Alfred’s granddaughter, Kirby, who he fondly referred to as his ‘Manager’ during the numerous doctor’s appointments and treatments.

Although the journey was challenging, everyone involved assisted with making Al comfortable so that his final wish to be at home with “Sherl” was possible.

Rest easy “Peep”, let there be no more pain and know you will be missed each and every day.
