Katherine (O’Donnell) Greenleaf
NORWAY – Katherine O’Donnell Greenleaf died April 17, 2026, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass. from osteosarcoma.
Born Sept. 22, 1942, in New Haven, Conn., to John and Katherine Ann O’Donnell, Kathy was raised in Augusta, Maine, with her four brothers. She graduated from Boston College School of Nursing in 1964 and married her husband of 61 years, David Greenleaf, in 1965. They began their life together in Brighton, Mass., and lived in Bennington, Vt., and Rumford, before settling in Norway in 1985.
A dedicated community member, Kathy volunteered with the Oxford Hills Food Pantry and the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, and was a longtime communicant of Saint Catherine of Sienna Church. She was active in the Norway Country Club Ladies Association, the Heywood Club, and local knitting, book, and writing groups. Before her retirement, Kathy was a school nurse at Guy E. Rowe School in Norway, where she cared for generations of children.
Kathy loved the outdoors and was an avid runner, skier, hiker, cyclist, and golfer. She climbed all 48 peaks of New Hampshire’s White Mountains to become a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club 4,000-Footer Club. She especially cherished time spent being active with friends and family.
Family was the most important part of Kathy’s life, and her favorite role was grandparent. She was “Ammie” to seven grandchildren who will remember her famous silver dollar pancakes, rollicking Thanksgiving bingo games, and boundless energy and love for each of them.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Jack O’Donnell, sisters-in-law Jet Price and Bette Gilchrist, brother-in-law, Teddy Greenleaf; and nephews Billy O’Donnell and Tod Gilchrist.
She is survived by her husband, David; her children, David (Linda Clary), Daniel (Kate), Jennifer, and Megan (Sean Toussaint); her grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson, Daniel, Jess, Timothy, Margaret, and Ian; her brothers James (Mary Wills), Joseph, and Stephen (Judy Brooks) O’Donnell, her sister-in-law, Jackie O’Donnell, her brothers-in-law, Dick Greenleaf (Jan) and Tim Gilchrist; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1 at Saint Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
