BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Amanda Cullen pitched a six-inning perfect game to lead St. Dom’s to a season-opening 14-0 victory over Boothbay in an MVC softball game Wednesday.

Cullen struck out eight of the 18 batters that she faced.

Sarah Gosselin and Bethany Fox each hit doubles for the Saints (1-0). Gosselin and Mary Caron had two hits apiece.

Jay 4, Mt. Abram 3

JAY — Beth Moore ripped an RBI double in the fifth inning to lift Jay to a 4-3 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC softball action Wednesday.

The Tigers (2-0) built a 3-1 advantage in three innings before the Roadrunners (0-1) closed the gap one frame later. Brittany DiPompo also contributed for Jay with two hits and one RBI.

Paula Despres scattered five hits in seven innings of work to notch the win.

Oxford Hills 14, Brunswick 2

PARIS — Heather Verrier scattered two hits in five innings of work and drew plenty of run support as Oxford Hills cruised to a 14-2 romp over Brunswick in KVAC softball action Wednesday.

Verrier helped her own cause at the plate with an over-the-fence home run in the sixth inning. Brianna Martin also contributed for the Vikings (4-0) with a solo shot over the fence in the second frame.

The Dragons (1-4) saw Laura Blier go the distance, allowing 14 hits, while being tagged with the loss.

Telstar 8, Dirigo 0

BETHEL— Telstar erupted for four runs in the first and fourth innings, and Nicena Walker smacked a two-run double and RBI single as Telstar dropped Dirigo (1-1) with an 8-0 victory in a softball game Wednesday.

Kayla Merrill got the win on the mount, striking out six batters and giving up only two hits. Sister Lyndsay Merrill had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Victoria Forkus smacked a lead-off triple and drove in a run on a single.

The Rebels (2-0) punched in 11 hits and made a pair of errors.

Edward Little 6, Morse 2

AUBURN — Trailing by a pair of runs, Edward Little scratched out three runs in the fourth inning and added three insurance runs in the sixth to outlast Morse 6-2 in a KVAC game Wednesday.

After Emily Johnson finally put EL (2-2) on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the fourth, the tying run scored on a walk and Johnson then scored the go-ahead run on an infield out. Melissa Paione fueled the three-run sixth with a two-run single.

Miranda Martin had one strikeout and scattered eight hits for the victory. Amber Tuplin limited the Red Eddies to three hits. Emma Seeley had three hits for the Shipbuilders (0-3).

Exeter 10, Hebron 0

HEBRON — Heath Sommers ripped a triple and a home run to help lead Exeter to a 10-0 victory over Hebron Academy in high school softball action.

Anna Richardson also smacked a home run and added a double for Exeter. Chloe Dubeg spun the shutout for the win.

Kaitlyn Paiton struck out five in the loss for Hebron.

Madison 15, Mountain Valley 5

MADISON — Madison pounded out 12 hits, including seven in the first inning en-route to a 15-5 triumph over Mountain Valley in an MVC softball tilt.

The Bulldogs (2-0) jumped all over the Falcons early plating seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kayla Booker, Emily McKenney, Kirsten Wood, and Natilie Michaud each had a pair of singles for Madison. McKenney earned the victory on the mound. Kristin Ridge ripped a double for Mountain Valley (0-1).

Winslow 10, Leavitt 5

WINSLOW — Four different batters had a pair of hits to help lead Winslow on a 10-hit attack for a 10-5 victory over Leavitt in Class B softball action.

Amy LeClair paced Winslow (2-1) with a single and a triple. Jess Reardon, Laura Vigue, and Meg Chenard each had a pair of singles in the victory.

Alicia Labbe led the Hornets (1-2) with a couple of singles in the loss.

Lake Region 15, Poland 6

POLAND — Lake Region smacked 21 hits and scored 15 runs on its way to a 15-6

triumph of Poland in high school softball action.

Kristina Morton paced the Lakers with four hits, while Abby Craffey, Hailey Geoghan, and Allison Clark each had three hits in the victory.

Brittina Maheux had a pair of hits for Poland, including a double. Katie Love and Lindsay Therriault also had singles for the Knights.

Gray-NG 8, York 2

YORK — Maggie Chaplin allowed just two runs and a pair of hits while fanning eight York batters to lead Gray-New Gloucester to an 8-2 victory.

The Patriots used an 11-hit attack on their way to their second victory of the season. York’s two runs were both scored on bunts.
