FARMINGTON — A local man was injured Monday afternoon when he was hit by an SUV while crossing Main Street against the pedestrian traffic signal, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. wrote in an email.
Rodney Stump, 80, of Farmington was knocked to the ground when a 2016 GMC Acadia driven by Chlorissa Plaisted, 31, of Jay turned left from Broadway onto Main Street on a green light. She attempted to stop but struck Stump, who was in violation of not observing the no-crossing signal, Nichols wrote in an email.
Stump was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Sgt. Jacob Richards and Deputy Andrew Morgan responded to the scene at 4:07 p.m. at the request of the Farmington Police Department because the Farmington officer was on another call.
Farmington Fire Rescue Department assisted at the scene.
