AUBURN — One person was hurt Thursday afternoon when a car skidded off the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Bridge and rolled into the bushes at the side of the road.
When police and rescue crews responded at about 3 p.m., it was reported that the driver was unresponsive at the scene. The vehicle had come to rest roughly 20 feet from the roadway.
The crash occurred on the Auburn side of the bridge. As fire and rescue crews treated the patient, traffic was backed up in the lanes headed from Lewiston into Auburn.
No further information about the driver or the injuries sustained were available later Thursday night. Auburn police were investigating the crash.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
