ROME — Pine Tree Camp plans to offer its annual adaptive Watersports Weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 22 and 23 at 114 Pine Tree Camp Road.
Because of the Equip for Living Foundation and Leap of Faith Adaptive Skiers, children and adults of all abilities will have the chance to water ski on North Pond. From being seated or standing up with adaptive gear, everyone will have the chance to hold the tow rope and ski behind the boat.
The waterfront will be open for swimming, boating and kayak trips. Archery, sports courts, biking and hiking will also be available, according to a news release from Tami Kennedy Burke at the camp.
This experience is open to people with disabilities and their families or caregivers. Participants are invited to sign up for one or both days.
“It’s a great weekend,” said Pine Tree Camp Director Dawn Willard-Robinson. “So many people get to try water skiing for the first time, and it’s fun to see how quickly people progress in their confidence and skills during the day, perhaps staring with someone standing next to them, perhaps trying it all on their own.”
Registration is required; financial assistance is available.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
