LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay Livermore Falls Seniors met Sept. 19 at Murray Hall with 27 members and three guests present. The guests in attendance were Peggy Jacques, Janice Wright and Muriel Labbe. Donna Cook and Pat Laverdiere were new members. Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for the departed members and the men and women serving in the armed forces here and abroad.
Jim Williams was the only member celebrating a birthday this month and Donna Cook led the group in singing “Happy Birthday” for him.
It was brought up that previously the group had voted not to have refreshments following the meeting, but the secretary did not find a vote in the minutes. Shirley Couture proposed that it was up to the group, and it was proposed and seconded that refreshments are to continue as they have been. Two individuals will be asked to volunteer each week so as not to have the same people supply them so often.
The 50/50 was won by Aurelien Couture. Door prizes donated by Jeannine Williams were won by Gloria Bickford and Pat Couture.
At the meeting on Oct. 3, Bingo will be provided as well as other card games. Donna Cook and Carole Redman volunteered to bring refreshments at that meeting.
After the meeting was adjourned games and cards were played and refreshments were served by Shirley Couture and Fernande Doiron.
