BUCKFIELD — A woman walking on Depot Street was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday morning.
Authorities did not immediately release her name or any other details about her or the driver. A statement issued by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office later in the day stated speed or alcohol “are not believed to be contributing factors at this time.”
According to the statement, the collision occurred about 5:30 a.m. near the 100 block of Depot Street. “Upon arrival, responding deputies located the single car crash; an adult female pedestrian was gravely injured and pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash,” Oxford County Sheriff’s Maj. Dana Thompson wrote.
The Sheriff’s Office, Buckfield Fire Department and Rescue and Turner Fire Department responded.
The crash remains under investigation. Depot Street was open to traffic later Monday morning.
Authorities are asking that anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
