POLAND — Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a South Paris woman Monday afternoon on Route 11, according to an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
Heather Keniston, 50, was driving her 2014 Mazda CX-5 eastbound around 2:30 p.m. when she lost control after striking a snowdrift, ACSO Chief Deputy William Gagne said in the post. The vehicle veered into the westbound lane and collided with a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Robert Clougherty, 70, of Casco.
Keniston, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, the post said.
Clougherty and one passenger were uninjured.
Gagne said unsafe speed and hazardous road conditions were contributing factors in the crash.
A reconstructionist with the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
Route 11, also known as Bakerstown Road, was shut down between White Oak Hill Road and Maine Street for 3½ hours, reopening at 6:30 p.m.
