BETHEL — Lee Hughes said others are invited to join a group of Bethel area Democrats who plan to march down Main Street in Bethel on June 14. The march will start at Bethel Common at Noon and finish on Davis Park, where there will be refreshments until 2 p.m.
Like Bethel’s march, other “No Kings Day” protests are planned around the country to counter President Donald Trump’s military parade in Washington D.C. on the same day. It is also Flag Day.
Hughes co-chairs Bethel Area Democrats with Cathy Allen, of Bethel. Their group will meet to make protest signs at Bethel Library on June 2 at 4:30 p.m.
Bethel Area Democrats meet every first Monday at the Library.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
