Two New York men face charges related to a home invasion Sunday as well as trafficking in cocaine, while Livermore Falls police searched for a third suspect .

Police Chief Abe Haroon said Monday that a resident at a mobile home park on Hunton Loop called 911 at 8:28 p.m. to report he was being assaulted by a man holding a handgun. When police arrived they arrested Joshua Washington, 25, and Daniel Gala, 25, both of New York. One was in the home and the other was hiding in woods nearby, he said.

Both men wore black ski masks and carried guns when they forced their way into the home, Haroon said. They were arrested and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn and held on $30,000 cash bail. If convicted, they face from five to 10 years in prison.

The victim was injured but declined medical treatment at the scene, the police chief said.

The third suspect, who Haroon said lives in the area, remained at large Monday.

As part of the investigation, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a nearby residence associated with Washington and Gala and found a third man from New York hiding inside, Haroon said. They seized 203.3 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine and about $8,000 in suspected drug trafficking proceeds.

All three men were charged with aggravated drug trafficking, but the Office of the Maine Attorney General opted not to prosecute the third man, who was released from jail Monday morning, according to officials.

A conviction for aggravated drug trafficking is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Haroon said the investigation continues and additional charges are expected.

Livermore Falls police were assisted by the Jay Police Department, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and state police.
