DEAR SUN SPOTS: A reminder that Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is holding a Spring Bake & Craft Sale fundraiser at Axis Natural Foods, 120 Center St., Suite 300, in Auburn on Friday, April 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Help us support them by taking part, either by baking (please, no cupcakes), crafting, or just buying some treats.

Please bring any treats or crafts packaged, labeled, and priced for sale to Axis Natural Foods by 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 3. Let’s make this a fun & happy day for Tommy’s kitties! — Rosanna, no town

ANSWER: I’ll always remember Norm Blais (bless his soul) was one of the first people to reach out to me when I became Ms. Sun Spots. For all who knew Norm, or even just heard about him and his tremendous work with feral felines, let’s make this upcoming fundraiser for Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, extra special for him.

Thank you to all who contribute to this effort with your time, energy, and dollars.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Drop-in Center at 121 Mill St. in Auburn goes through a lot of sugar! We use sugar in coffee, tea, and on cereal. We also bake cookies and cakes and other sweet treats. We also use syrup for our pancakes and French toast, and soon we’ll need iced tea mix and lemonade mix.

Please consider donating a few bags of sugar, some inexpensive syrup, and a few canisters of drink mix. One school-age boy had a lemonade-canisters-only birthday party last year and this sweet donation lasted for weeks!

This is one small way to help our local community at a time when the big problems of the world are so overwhelming. — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: The Drop-in Center is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They always need volunteers and other commodities such as warm clothing, camping equipment, and good shoes.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Delta Kappa Gamma, local Mu Chapter, an international society of retired and current women educators, is providing our Recruitment Grant, a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior enrolled in a school of higher education and planning to become a teacher.

This year’s scholarship is available to a student from a school in the central Maine area. Priority will be given to children and grandchildren of DKG members.

Applications can be acquired at area school guidance offices or email a request to [email protected]. The student must mail the completed application to the address (on the application) by April 17, 2026. — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: It’s the season when graduating seniors are seeking funds for their continuing education. Students, searching for these opportunities can take some time and energy, but it’s always worth it. There are funds to be had at the local level to assist you with meeting your expenses as you forge onward into your future. Seek out the organizations you think would be a good match for your needs and/or degree. There are nonprofits, businesses and individuals who are willing and able to financially support your dreams.
