Coach: Reggie Weston (fifth year)
Last year’s record: 12-7, lost in Western C quarterfinal
Returning letter winners: Seniors — Alyssa Wade (5-8 guard), Paige Murphy (5-4 guard), Miranda Shurtleff (5-7 guard/forward), Angela Ronan (5-11 center/forward); Junior — Ambyr Wilson (5-7 guard/forward), Kayla Gaudin (5-8 forward), Lexi Noyes (5-1 guard), Natasha DeRoche (5-4 guard), Natalie Bolduc (5-3 guard), Gretchen Bradbury (5-5 forward); Sophomore — Lindsy Crutchfield (5-4 guard).
Key losses: Hannah Knight (guard), Erin Turner (guard)
Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Jessica Conant (5-7 guard/forward), Kelsey Hutchins (5-8 forward).
Outlook: The Cougars lost Knight, an all-conference pick and Turner, a seasoned defender. Dirigo still has the bulk of its team back including veterans like Wade (10.6 ppg), Murphy and Ronan. Shurtleff also returns after missing last year to an injury. The Cougars have experience and some depth to work with. That should make them a competitive club in the MVC.
Coach’s comment: “We will continue to work hard on defense, boxing out, rebounding, ball handling skills and outside shooting. We will need to continue working on physical and mental toughness.” Coach Reggie Weston
