BETHEL — Telstar Middle School students will showcase their musical and visual art accomplishments alongside the works of local adult artists at the seventh annual TMS ArtReach, to be held at the Telstar Complex from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8. Snow date will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, same time.
The event, which connects art with service-learning, will include a student art exhibit and sale, a program of special student performances and a live auction of artworks donated by local artists.
Money raised will benefit the SERV (Special Environments Restoring Vitality) service-learning project, which is focused on learning about and helping the Maine Wildlife Park and the Maine Handicapped Skiing organization.
For this year’s project, TMS advanced art students chose to learn about and help the two nonprofit organizations because of the work they do to provide special environments that restore a sense of vitality and dignity to humans and animals. Funds raised will be split evenly between the two organizations.
The show will open at 5 p.m., with the student visual art exhibit and sale, the live auction preview and a bake sale. Student artworks will be offered for sale, and the live auction will include several donated artworks, both two- and three-dimensional, in a variety of media.
The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program of special student performances at 7. More information about the SERV project can be found at http://www.wix.com/tmsserv/artreach.
