LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club winners of the club championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 27 were as follows:
first, Anna Vitiello and Rosemarie Goodwin; second/third tie, Cynthia and Bill Clifford with Mike True and Les Buzzell; fourth/fifth tie, Pat Garcia and David Lock with Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.
Winners of the club championship at Schooner Estates on Wednesday, Dec. 28, were: first, Anna Vitiello and Mike True; second, John Hackett and Les Buzzell; third, Fred Letourneau and David Wallace.
Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. A partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information. The Wednesday night game at Schooner will resume on May 2.
Sew hospital gowns
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop for anyone interested in creating patient gowns for men and women. “Johnnies with Style” will take place Monday, Jan. 9, from 3 to 8 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room C, and Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in conference room I.
Sewing enthusiasts of all abilities are welcome to join the Dempsey Center Sewing Group and create attractive and comfortable gowns. Drop in any time. New group volunteers are always welcome.

Construction safety
AUBURN — The MEMIC Center for Workplace Safety located at Central Maine Community College will host a 30-hour construction industry outreach training in partnership with the OSHA Training Institute Education Center. This powerful program is designed to provide training to workers with some safety responsibility.
This training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. Topics will include an introduction to OSHA, personal protective and lifesaving equipment, fall protection, electrical safety, health hazards in construction and at least one hour on stairways and ladders. Participants successfully completing the course and hourly requirements are eligible to receive three CEUs and will be issued a 30-hour Dept. of Labor Outreach card.
This training will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, through Friday, Jan. 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Central Maine Community College. The cost is $595 and includes all materials. Registration is open and ongoing; space is limited.

Lymphedema info
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free lymphedema workshop for cancer survivors, their families and friends. “What is Lymphedema? The Diagnosis and Treatment” will take place Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room H.
Lymphedema can be a side effect of certain cancers or treatments. The swelling ranges from hardly noticeable to extreme. CMMC occupational therapist Lorri Pelletier will discuss risk factors, complications and treatments that can help reduce the swelling and discomfort.
Pelletier has been an occupational therapist at CMMC for 16 years but has specialized in lymphedema therapy for the past 11 years. She is currently working at Central Maine Therapy Services with a primary focus on treating individuals with lymphedema.

Lisbon historical
LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society held its annual Christmas Party on Dec. 14. Alfred and Dorothy Smith, president and archivist respectively, hosted the event for members and their guests. A potluck supper highlighted the evening, followed by a Yankee gift swap.
The next meeting of the society will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Please use the rear entrance.
