LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted unanimously Monday, in their capacity as Sewer Department trustees, to accept a Kingfield company’s bid to replace sewer lines on Richardson Avenue and Bemis Street, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Wednesday.
The Livermore Falls Water District trustees has also voted to award the project, which also includes replacing water lines in the Richardson Avenue Neighborhood Project, to Jordan Excavation Inc. of Kingfield, Water District Clerk Cheryl Marceau said Wednesday.
Jordan was the low bidder for the project at $692,940, Flagg said. There were six other bids received with a top bid of about $942,000, she said.
Both the Sewer Department and Water District plan to pay for the project by using leftover federal grants funds that were awarded for road improvements on Main Street.
The town has about $240,000 in grant funds to pay for the Sewer Department’s replacement of lines on Bemis and Richardson, Flagg said. If there is any money left over in grant funds, the department will replace manholes.
Marceau said they plan to replace water lines on more than those two streets in the neighborhood because they have more grant funds left over.
Voters in Livermore Falls will decide by an annual town meeting referendum vote on Tuesday, June 12, at the Town Office if they want to replace the sidewalk on Richardson Avenue by raising $10,000.
