LEWISTON — A longtime, local paving company has shut its doors and it appears a restaurant owned by the same family has met the same fate.
Mike Cloutier told WMTW on Monday that he and his brother, Claude, shuttered RC & Sons paving last week when the company ran out of money. It laid off 40 people.
The business, at 942 Main St., had been started by their grandfather in 1976.
On Tuesday, the parking lot at RC & Sons was empty and the phone rang unanswered. Attempts to contact Mike and Claude Cloutier were unsuccessful.
Just down the street at 757 Main St., Moose Creek Grille, opened by the brothers in May 2011, had a single word on its roadside sign, “Closed.” The restaurant had been open seven days a week. Its phone rang to a voice mail that wasn’t accepting messages.
