LEWISTON — Mary Dempsey, assistant director and volunteer manager at Central Maine Medical Center’s Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, has been honored by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center for her work fighting cancer.

Dempsey is the sister of actor Patrick Dempsey, who helped start the CMMC cancer center in Lewiston.

Dempsey was one of 100 people honored June 7 at a Boston awards ceremony hosted by actor Matt Damon. The annual gala is a fundraiser to help support research, patient care, education and community outreach programs at the Massachusetts center.
