BRUNSWICK — The 10th annual Brunswick Garden Tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8. The tour will consist of nine of Brunswick’s most beautiful gardens, several of which have never appeared on the tour before. All proceeds will benefit Midcoast Youth Theater.
In the case of rain, the tour will take place on Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This year’s tour contains many interesting and unique stops including Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary’s garden. Students in grades two through five took care of the garden through seeding, weeding and watering. The produce will be harvested in the fall and given to the school’s culinary staff for use in the children’s lunches.
Another exciting stop is the Tom Settlemire Community Garden on Maurice Drive. The garden is owned and operated by The Brunswick/Topsham Land Trust. It’s popularity has grown almost as fast as the plants in its 70 occupied plots. Many of the plots are owned and maintained by Mid Coast Hunger Prevention and will be used to feed the hungry throughout the year.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Gulf Of Maine Bookstore on Maine Street for $10. On the day of the tour, they will be available at the gazebo for $12. For more information call Ron Carroll at 725-6558 or Priscilla Smith at 729-3484.
