The county commissioners were in session at the Lisbon Falls selectmen’s office Thursday morning to consider the petition of the municipal officers asking them to widen Lisbon Street from Pleasant Street to Blethen Street on the north side. A number of the abutters had permitted the sidewalk when it was made permanent several years ago, to be laid over on to their land. No deed had ever been passed. The Twin Cities airport has suffered some setbacks lately, with the pullout of its base operator and the announcement that its only airline wants to sever its passenger service to the facility. But its reputation for receiving dignitaries is alive and well. “We’ve got no fuel or maintenance, but that didn’t stop Nancy Reagan,” said John L. Carey, manager of the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport. The airport was buzzing with activity Thursday morning as city, county and state police, along with Secret Service personnel, patrolled the airport in preparation for a visit from the First Lady. Nancy Reagan was coming to make a visit to Agassiz Village youth camp in West Poland.
