LEWISTON — The Franco-American Heritage Center has announced the fall session of “Fun in French,” a total-immersion language program for children ages 3-10 along with their parents, grandparents, babysitter or other caregiver. No prior French language exposure is necessary for this program, where music, puppet shows and stories are shared with the goal of students learning French through plays, rhymes and songs.
The fall session begins on Sept. 15, and continues to meet Sept. 29, Oct. 13, Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the center, 46 Cedar St. The classes cost $60 per student total for the six classes, with $40 per each additional sibling.
To register, contact Joyce Coyne at 783-1585 or via email at [email protected].
The classes will be taught by Vanessa Hermann. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Belgian parents, she grew up in Belgium from ages 2 to 8, when her family permanently immigrated to Quebec. She immigrated to Lewiston?Auburn in 2002, teaching informal classes within the L/A community and at the Auburn Adult Education. In 2008, she started up “French Classes for Families,” where parents would join their young children in class.
A winter session of “Fun in French” will take place every Saturday, from Jan. 5 to Feb. 9. A spring session will take place every other Saturday, from March 2 to May 4.
