Guest speaker is Anita White

PARIS — The guest speaker at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street for Oct. 21 is Anita White. White’s topic for the 10 a.m. worship service is “Comfy Seats.”

Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the worship service and all are welcome. Childcare is available.

Bible studies offered

DIXFIELD — Upcoming Bible studies titled “What the Bible Says About…” will begin Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m., at 58 Pine St.

See how the Bible is as up-to-date as the daily news as well as historically accurate. Feel free to bring a Bible or one will be provided.

The studies will be conducted by Esther and Bob White of Dixfield affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Dixfield.

Marriage equality celebration

AUBURN — An “Interfaith Service Celebrating Marriage Equality” will be held Sunday, Oct. 28, at 5:30 p.m., hosted by the First Universalist Church. A reception will follow.

The service will include, among others, Rev. Steve Carnahan, High Street Congregational Church; Rev. Jodi Cohen Hayashida, First Universalist Church; Rev. Casey Collins, Calvary Methodist Church; Rabbi Hillel Katzir, Temple Shalom Synagogue; Rita Moran, Pagan Community, and Emily Wright-Magoon, Bates College multifaith chaplain.

Through prayer, song and spoken word, this interfaith service will honor and proclaim the hope, rooted in varied faith traditions, that the dream of marriage equality will become a reality in Maine. Gathered in the presence of the Holy, participants will witness against discrimination and sing a joyful song of justice for all.
