NEW GLOUCESTER — Funeral services honoring the life of Maine Game Warden Rick Stone were held Monday on the outdoor plaza of Pineland Farms, with Pastor Glen Anderson officiating. Maine Warden Service Chaplain Kate Braestrup recited Psalm 23. Words of remembrance were shared by Maine Warden Service Col. Joel Wilkinson, fellow warden and close friend, Mike Boyer, Rick’s son, Christopher, Rick’s brother, Roy and Rick’s friend, Randy Gelliff. Rick’s favorite Song, “Day’s of Elijah” was sung by his friend, Jonathan Turgeon who also sang “Amazing Grace.” Maine Gov. Paul Lepage led state delegations who were in attendance that included the Maine Warden Service, the Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine State Police, as well as Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department, Auburn Police Department and the Lewiston Police Department. Before departing in procession to Lower Gloucester Cemetery, a “last call” was then made over the statewide police radio channel in honor of Warden Stone. Maine State Trooper Bagpipper Trevor Snow then led the procession out with “Amazing Grace.” Upon arrival at Lower Gloucester Cemetery, Pastor Anderson recited graveside committal prayers followed by the U.S. Navy honor detail playing “taps” and presenting our country’s flag to Rick’s wife, Cindy in recognition of her husband’s years of service to his country. Bearers were Maine Warden Service Sgt. David Chabot, Game Warden Brock Clukey, Rick’s brothers, Roger, Randy, and Roy Stone as well as Rick’s friend, Randy Gelliff.
