LISBON — Police believe a medical condition may have caused an out-of-town driver to lose control of his pickup on Route 196 late Friday morning.
Lisbon police officer Ryan McGee said Rodney Poulin, 41, of Greene, was driving west at a slow speed, according to witnesses, when his pickup veered across the eastbound lane near the Lisbon Flea Market, went off the left shoulder and slammed into a utility pole, breaking a guy wire.
Poulin was unresponsive, but breathing when McGee arrived. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center by Lisbon Emergency.
Damage was estimated at $4,500 to Poulin’s 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup and at $1,500 to the utility pole.
The accident, which occurred at 11:23 a.m., remains under investigation.
