AUBURN — Heathco’s Pizza and Variety played unexpected host to a crew from the History Channel show “American Pickers.”

“They ran out of gas in our parking lot,” Kelsey Philbrick of Auburn said. Philbrick was working in the kitchen when the truck belonging to the subject of an upcoming episode ran out of gas and rolled in.

He was followed by the show’s producer and a camera crew in a van. Show hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz were not among the crew but that didn’t stop Philbrick from making her film debut.

Crews interviewed Philbrick on camera and told her she may make it on the show. The crews grabbed a couple of menus and promised to order some food before they leave town.

Mary Nicholson, owner of Heathco’s said, “I just noticed the truck and two gentlemen came out — then two cameramen — it was pretty cool.”

Mary described the crew as, “Very, very nice gentlemen,” who told her the filming location wasn’t too far from her location.

When the crew found out Heathco’s delivers, they offered Nicholson $2 and a jar of jam as payment for gas delivery.

Nicholson’s delivery driver had already left, leaving her $2 richer and still holding the jam. Mike and Frank would have to admit, Nicholson got the best pick of the day.
