WALES — The new budget approved at last week’s RSU 4 school board meeting wasn’t the budget directors meant to approve.
Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said on Monday that due to human error the new budget approved last week didn’t reflect the board’s intention to cut $69,000 from the technology budget.
On Wednesday, directors will be asked to approve a 2013-2014 budget of $17,625,741.
In the numbers released last week, the anticipated increases in tax rates in the three RSU 4 towns was $1.21 in Sabattus, 61 cents in Litchfield and $1.04 in Wales.
In the new numbers updated Monday, the impact is estimated to be $1.18 in Sabattus, 58 cents in Litchfield and $1 in Wales.
Residents are set to take an initial vote on the new budget, the third one proposed by the board, on Aug. 21 at Oak Hill High School. A referendum vote is planned for Aug. 27.
