The Moose Tier 2 Bantams headed down to Massachusetts the day after Thansgiving to take part in the North American Fall Championship and finished in second place. The Moose faced an uphill battle before they even got to the arena due to injuries and the start of high school hockey.
The Moose beat the Arrows, 2-1, on Friday night. Goals were scored by Gavin Bates and Noah Toussaint. Esa Maki picked up the win in net. In the second game of the day, the Minuteman Flames defeated the Moose, 3-1. Coach Gray said his team was tired from playing earlier in the day, and with only 10 skaters, it made it difficult to compete.
Losing Cody Doyon in the first game really hurt us, Gray said. Cody took a knee-to-knee hit, knocking him out of the tournament and on the injured list.Noah Toussaint scored the lone goal for the Moose. Dalton Bowie played well in the pipes suffering the loss.
On Saturday, the Moose faced off against undefeated Sphinx de LAssomption. The Moose were got Ryan Raby and Tyler Halls back in the line up, which proved to pivotal for the Moose. The Moose came out on top 2-1. Cody Pellerin and Tanner McClure scored for the Moose and Esa Maki made some key saves.
The Moose were faced with a must-win situation in order to advance to the championship round Sunday. In an early morning game, the Moose came out sloppy but picked up the 2-1 win over the Falcons. Gavin Bates lead the way for the Moose, scoring both goals. In the afternoon, the Moose faced off against Sphinx de LAssomption. This time the Moose were not as lucky, losing 3-1. Noah Toussaint scored the only Moose goal and Esa Maki suffered the loss. The Moose gave up an empty-net goal late in the period to make it 3-1.
