Sam’s Italian Restaurants, through customer donations, raised $4,000 last fall to help end hunger in Maine. The restaurants’ annual effort asks customers to donate $1 for a paper cornucopia, with the money going to help end hunger. This past fall, the employees at the restaurant’s Brunswick location raised the largest amount to benefit their local food pantry, while Sam’s on Minot Avenue in Auburn raised the most for St. Mary’s Health System’s Food Pantry. A plaque noting their achievement was presented to the store in January as a thank-you by Joyce Gagnon, manager of St. Mary’s Food Pantry. At the presentation ceremony, were, from left, Wendy Chapman, manager of Sam’s Minot Avenue location, Gagnon, and Andy Morin, Sam’s district manager.
