WAYNE — Cary Memorial Library’s silent auction will open Thursday, July 31, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 9, when bidding ends at noon.
The auction will take place at the Williams House at 14 Old Winthrop Road across the street from the library.
Donations include pottery from Wayne and beyond, hand-crafted quilts and other needlework, framed art and photography, china and glassware, jewelry and attic treasures.
Furniture will be featured, including a double rocker and a Shaker rocking chair, a hand-crafted wall cabinet and a hand-made bench. Hand-crafted items from around the world include Masai baskets and Molas from Central America.
A Brooklyn, N.Y., homestay with theater tickets will be offered, a kite-boarding adventure and local boating excursions on Pocasset and Androscoggin. Two stone garden urns are in the mix, as is an American Flyer train set, a collectible Christmas Village set and two bike racks.
There will be culinary items, hand-made doll clothes and baby sweaters and many pieces of jewelry. An array of Buy-It-Now items will be offered, including small pots of European wild ginger. And on display outside will be a 16.5 Town Class Sailboat, restored by Androscoggin Boatworks, with bidding to start at $6,000.
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, for the launch of the auction. Open hours continue through most library hours through noon Saturday, Aug. 9.
On Saturday, Aug. 2, the auction will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the Wayne Library Festival and Lobster Roll Lunch. Also on that day, the library’s 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Scramble will happen that morning.
