LEWISTON – A surprise party was held recently for Thomas and Alice Lufkin of Lewiston on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The event was planned by Mike and Joan Lufkin, Mike and Sandy Sleeper, and Diane Pinson, and was held at The Palace.

The hall was decorated with white and gold balloons on each table and hanging from the ceiling were gold wedding rings. The anniversary arrangement was made by a niece. Toastmaster was Mike Lufkin and taking care of the guest book were Michelle Lufkin and Brittany Anglea.

Mr. Lufkin and the former Alice Jalbert were married on June 26, 1954, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. They have three children, Mike Lufkin, Sandy Sleeper and Diane Pinson and four grandchildren, Derek and Michelle Lufkin, Brittany Anglea and Robert (Bobby) Pinson.

Mrs. Lufkin retired from Bates College in 1992. Mr. Lufkin retired from St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. in 1993. He is currently working part time at United Wheelchair Service.

Original wedding attendants present were Laurette Jalbert, Marie Bolduc and Marguerite Larochelle.

Guests attended from Florida, Connecticut, Bangor, Biddeford and Auburn.
