None less inviting than the name, Devil’s Den, is the entrance to the famous cave near the summit of Sabattus Mountain. If this curiosity was many miles away, difficult to gain access to and a great expense to reach, it is probable that a great many more people would have paid the cave a visit. But as it is, being so comparatively near the city, it would be supposed that far more lovers of nature or geological students would have climbed Sabattus Mountain. Not only is a climb up the mountain worthwhile for the visit to the cave, but also for the grand scenery and view which is rewarded the traveler upon reaching the top.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Dramatic evidence of the effect of today’s high living costs is furnished by the latest Institute survey. When adults were asked, “What is the SMALLEST amount of money a family of four needs to get along in this community?” the medium average figure named today was $72 a week. This is almost 2½ times the amount named by the public 20 years ago and about ¼ again as much as the amount cited five years ago.
• The Twin Cities shivered yesterday as the mercury failed to rise to the freezing mark. Old Man Winter isn’t slated to arrive officially for almost a month, but he blew a blast of icy air that ringed ponds with ice and sent motorists to the nearest service station to check their radiator antifreeze.

For years, greeting cards contained only some large corporation’s idea of poetry. But now the card industry has decided to join the electronics revolution by marrying semiconductors and sentiment. The first fruit of this union is a Christmas card that when it is opened plays “Silent Night” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” The built-in musical equipment is so small that electronic cards cannot be readily distinguished from their silent competitors.
